Institute for Advanced Materials Research Press operates a fully open-access publishing model. All peer-reviewed articles published in its journals are made freely available online immediately upon publication.
Readers may access, read, download, and share published articles without subscription, registration, institutional access, or payment. No access fee is charged to individual readers, libraries, universities, research institutions, or other organizations.
This policy applies to research published across the Press’s academic fields, including artificial intelligence in materials science, materials informatics, data-driven materials design, computational materials science, materials modeling and simulation, machine learning for materials discovery, AI-assisted materials synthesis, materials characterization, nanomaterials, smart materials, advanced functional materials, sustainable materials development, and related interdisciplinary areas.
Accepted articles are published online with immediate open access. No embargo period is imposed before readers may access the published Version of Record.
Open access enables researchers, engineers, educators, students, industry professionals, institutions, and members of the public to consult and use published research without subscription barriers.
Manuscript submission, initial editorial assessment, and peer review are free of charge.
An Article Processing Charge (APC) becomes payable only after a manuscript has successfully completed the editorial and peer-review process and has received formal acceptance for publication.
APC amounts may vary between journals. The applicable charge, available waivers or discounts, payment procedures, refund conditions, and other financial terms are displayed on the official Publication Fees page of the relevant journal.
Authors should review the Publication Fees page of their selected journal before submitting a manuscript.
The APC supports the services required to evaluate, prepare, publish, and maintain an accepted article, including:
Editorial administration
Peer-review coordination
Typesetting and article formatting
Preparation of publication proofs
DOI registration
Metadata preparation and distribution
Online publication and hosting
Support for indexing and discoverability
Digital archiving and preservation
Authors may access and share their published articles immediately after publication. Readers may access the complete published Version of Record through the journal website without creating an account or paying an access fee.
Published articles may also be deposited in appropriate institutional, subject-based, or funder-designated repositories in accordance with the journal’s separate Copyright and Licensing Policy.
Authors are encouraged, where legally, ethically, and technically appropriate, to make supporting research materials available. These materials may include:
Materials datasets
Research data
Computational models
Software and source code
Simulation files
Experimental protocols
Analytical workflows
Supplementary files
Shared materials must comply with applicable intellectual-property rights, confidentiality obligations, research agreements, safety requirements, data-protection rules, export controls, and ethical or institutional approvals.
Copyright ownership, reuse permissions, Creative Commons licensing, third-party material, author reuse, and repository-deposit conditions are governed by the separate Copyright and Licensing Policy and the licensing statement displayed on each published article.
Information concerning open access, publication charges, waivers, discounts, copyright, licensing, and author rights is made available on the official publisher and journal websites.
The applicable APC and related financial terms are communicated before submission and confirmed before payment. Changes to publication charges do not apply retrospectively to manuscripts that have already been formally accepted under previously confirmed terms.
